Trip to Roatan, Honduras

We were in Roatan for almost 2 weeks. We stayed with our Need Greater friends and we had a blast...Here are some pictures. When going through them again we were amazed at how many good pictures we have. We can't post them all but here are a few of them.

Snorkeling with the dolphins, this was an amazing experience we had probably 10 to 15 dolphins to just swim with, play, and touch. This place was about 5 minutes from where our friends lived in Sandy Bay.

This is a picture of our family for a week. Flynn needed to go back to the states to take care of some stuff. Louis' mom was on the mainland for a week, so we are stayed at Tomchuk's place and did service, studying, playing WII, and having lots of fun and good times...

On Sunday after the meeting Tanya invited some friends over to hang out. There was a family from Denmark who were on the island for almost 2 weeks vacationing.

This is a picture of Louis' older brother Shannon (Good soccer player, scores without moving much ;-). Also Tanya and Nyah on a little sugar high after some sweets.

The brothers on Roatan need to fly or take the ferry to the mainland when it is time for their assemblies. In January they were able to charter a small flight...You can image the coordination needed for this, so here some of the brothers talking it up...

Nyah the exploradora, finds an amazing huge starfish...We were swimming in the beach close to where we played volleyball, and she picked it up. Of course she wanted to keep it as a pet, but her parents told her NO.

We were in Roatan for part of their rainy season. We had a couple of days in service where it just poured...We stopped off at this beach resort, and as you tell it was PACKED... You can see the big storm coming in the distance...

This is a picture of the sign language group that meets with the english congregation. Tanya is learning sign, and Nyah was able to sit with her and practice. While we were there they got a new TV for the sign group which was so nice to so the deaf brothers really appreciate it.

The snorkeling in Roatan is incredible. You can go out at any beach and grab some fins and a snorkel and see amazing fish, squid, Conch, and much more. Here is Nyah and Vivi, after they went snorkeling.

This was our guard dog for the time we were there. Bruno saved corina from a 6 foot snake that she saw when we walked out the front door the fish night. Bruno could also fish, and he would just stare and wait to pounce and attack the fish. AWESOME DOG...he wouldn't come in the house either, he just waited outside until we said BEACH, and then he would jump in the back of the truck.

This was a beautiful beach on the east side of the island. We had lunch here during service. As you can see the water is just amazing...

Picture of the inside of the hall...

You can see the part of the 2nd largest reef in the world which surrounds Roatan. The waves are breaking on part of it. Great views from all over the island...

CO visit and some good times

We hope all our friends are doing good. We just heard about the windstorm in seattle, so we thought we could send some Costa Rican sunshine your way.

We have been really busy for the past couple of weeks, and especially last week with our CO visit. Him and his wife were such a treat for our congregation. So encouraging, and as always great talks that you walked away feeling uplifted, but at the same time with specific things to work on.

Corina and Nyah had an assignment during the visit, and they did really good. So on the day prior (because there is really no good restaurants in Santa Cruz) we went to the beach and had a nice dinner. Nyah was making sandcastles and we could hear the waves crashing. We got to have dessert, Corina got the best one I think...Chocolate Lava Flow...

On the final day of his visit, a brother who has a little cabina on top of this mountain, invited us and about 20 other brothers and sisters. This is the picture where you can see forever, and the sunset. In the night time we could see the big city of Liberia which is about 50 miles from where we were at. And the picture just doesn't do it justice. We were able to pick some sugar cane, and use machetes to cut it down, bananas, and we just had a really good time. The brothers cooked up food, and we had coffee.

There was a couple and his wife got sick, and they had to leave early. Because of the shortage of cars in the area that meant we had to take 15 people down in 2 cars...So you can see one picture of the brothers and sisters in our car. But you don't see Corina, Nyah and myself sitting in front. So we had a total of 9 people. But we all made it home!

We are continuing to enjoy our time, it has been going by really fast. Our neighbors just brought 2 of their dogs, so Nyah is loving them. She keeps buying dog food, to feed to all of the poor, skinny dogs around the area.

We hope you all are doing well, and we hope to hear from you soon.

El aseo (hall cleaning)

Here are some of the pictures from last months hall cleaning. As you can see in the parking lot we had quite a few weeds to pull, and every month the sisters take out the chairs and mop the floor, and clean all the windows.

We have also started to make a little block wall around the kingdom hall because during the rainy season they lose about 6 inches of dirt a year, so the brothers decided it was time to build a little block wall. That is Eli with the sunglasses (him and his wife are going to be here for 2 years helping out), and Sady in the back behind Eli digging away.

Nyah found another langosta during the cleaning and that is what she is holding in her hand, she feels pretty brave when it can't fly around and stick to you.

A little fun at the beach

On Monday's we get to have time to clean our place, and then have some relaxation. Last Monday we were able to go the beach. We went up north a little bit to Playa Grande. Its a nice surfing beach, and Nyah had her boogey. The waves were not too big, so it was good for me. I don't like to get tossed very much.

Here are some more pictures of some of our territory and the animals we see...It seems like there is always some big critters in our backyard. Tonight we saw some langosta (big locusts) about the size of my hand. They flew into our kingdom hall the other night, and landed on my pant leg...also landed on a sister from the states, but she didn't scream...Always an adventure with all the critters. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

A brother found a orange fruit that was kind of like a mango...So we decided to take a break.

One month, it has flown by...

We can't believe we have been in Costa Rica for 1 month. Crazy fast...We have been really busy. The service has been going great. Corina has started a couple of studies, and we were doing about 10 other studies for a couple who has been here for 10 months who went back to New York for a couple of weeks.

Our service is about 3 hours of walking from 8am to 11am. We usually have sometime to eat lunch and then we go and do some studies. When we get back we are pretty exhausted...Here is what Nyah looks like after...

One evening we were really craving some Curried Chicken, and Roti. So Corina decided to make some. It turned out so good...Here are some pics of Nyah helping with the Roti, and the big pot of curried chicken.

The weather is getting hotter, which has been nice, but you forget that it just gets hotter and hotter. We are still supposed to be in the rainy season until the first of november, but it hasn't rained here for about 8 days...So we are enjoying the sun.

We hope you all are doing well, take care!

Preaching with the monkeys

So we are able to put up some pictures finally...We have a really busy week out in service. It went by really fast. The rains have been pretty strong in the afternoon, but in the morning it is usually fairly sunny, and warm.

Last Saturday we went to a place about 10 kilometers on this dirt road. We got to a plaza, and then we just started walking. It was so nice, because we didn't get rained on at all. Towards the end we were down by a river, and we started to hear the howling from the monkeys...Nyah took a video. Here are some shots of the service group we were with as well.

There is also some pictures of the German Shepherd Nyah liked, and a horse she wanted to ride

Hope everybody is doing good!

First days in Costa Rica

We have arrived to Costa Rica! We got to our place last week, and we had our first meeting on Thursday. It was so nice to see all the friends again.

On Friday we went to the beach, we were pretty spent after the travel from the airport to our congregation which is about 4.5 hours by car, about 7 by bus, but we didn't do the bus route this time :-). So we took Friday off, and just relaxed, and jumped in the waves.

On Saturday we went out preaching in the moutains behind where we live. We were able to talk to some people that only see the witnesses once ever year or two. On the top of the mountains they have 2 towers for cell phones. It was pretty funny the brother with his cell phone looked to see if he had service, and like most other places in Santa Cruz, he still had NO bars...PURA VIDA :-)

We could see the pacific ocean from on top, and also about 50 kilometers down the beach on both sides. It was an amazing view. The white part in the pictures are the waves from the ocean.

Here are some of the pictures Nyah took because we forgot our camera...We had to cross this little bridge because of the rainy season, the river was too high to cross with our car...Probably could of but I didn't pay for the extra car insurance on the rental...Senor Barato o in english El Cheapo

We will post more pictures when we can...
